Social Studies Department

Mr. Holder, 9th grade

After spending 15 years at AMS, I am glad to join the Anniston High School Bulldog family. When I first
went to school to get my teaching certification, my goal was to be a high school history teacher, and I am
so excited to be teaching at one of Alabama’s best schools. My fellow teachers and students are like my
second family.
Speaking of family, I love spending time with my family when I am not at school. My wife, Shona, and I
have been married for 25 years, and we have two amazing kids, Taylor and Christopher, and a golden lab
named Millie, who is kind of crazy. When I am not at school, I am hanging with the family. I can also be
found listening to all types of music, working in the yard, and serving and attending Church of the
Highlands in Gadsden.
Because I am a teacher, I must tell you about my educational background. I have a B.S. in history from
the University of West Alabama, a Masters in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix, Ed.S
in teacher leadership from Jacksonville State University, and I am pursuing my Administration
Certification from the University of West Alabama.
